SIMPLE MEASURES THAT CAN REALLY MAKE GARDENING GLEN IRIS FUN AND EASY

Starting out a new garden can come with its challenges. In most cases, it is better to seek the advice of a more skilled gardener to help you get through the small gardening Hampton obstacles that may seem like mountains for you. One tip that I can freely share is that in order to have healthy growing plants, you need to ensure you mulch them properly.

Mulching helps trap moisture leaving the soil keeping the plant moisturised all through. This ensures that the water does not escape as soon as you water it. Mulching is also used to ensure that the young plants are not swept away by hard rain as it then lands softer through the mulch. Strong winds are also kept at bay with mulching. However, you need to have the right kind of mulch in order to have the right effect. Here are tips on how to do this.

Quality of mulch

Quality growth demands quality investment. You will need to use top quality mulch in order to achieve the desired results. Good quality mulch has coarse and loose particles which allow for aeration of the soil without leaving it too bear as well. Once you have acquired the best quality possible of mulch now spread an adequate amount of it on the plant. Layering about two to three inches of mulch should be adequate. This should be layered on at different stages of the plant’s life and placed a bit of a distance from the stem or bark of the plant.

Natural versus inorganic

Natural mulches are more useful to the plant and the garden in its entirety. Inorganic mulches can sometimes cause more harm than good and should therefore be avoided as much as possible. The use of inorganic mulches can really steer your gardening Glen Iris in the right direction. Common organic mulches include grass which is the most common. All you do with grass is take two to three inches of grass clippings and place it around the plant as necessary. This will provide a nice layer of mulch. The other benefit that comes with using grass besides its availability is the fact that it contains nitrogen which will do well for vegetables especially. It should however be noted that using grass that has been previously treated with chemicals like weed killer may cause damage to your plants. On the same note, do not use too much grass mulch as it can end up clogging the upper soil thus chocking the plant instead of helping it. Dry leaves can also be used but only if they are perfectly dry and shredded to small bits.

Pine needles are also a good option of organic mulch. These needles are very rich in nutrients and are acidic as well making them the perfect spread for shrubs like azaleas.
There are numerous other natural mulches that you can use including wood bark. You can use any of these to enrich your garden and you can rest assured that your gardening Hallam will be much easier.
